DS106 Haiku it up!   4 comments

I chose this assigment “Haiku it up!“. The assigment requires these : For the writing assignment, take a random Dailyshoot photograph and create a haiku using that image. Let the image inspire you to create a poetic haiku. Don’t know what a haiku is? The most common form for Haiku is three short lines. The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables. Haiku doesn’t rhyme.

“When I stop the alarm clock

I always blow out a breath

But the sun also “Rises””

Maybe , everyone has faced a same situation. Nowadays Im taking morning class, so I have to wake up around 6:00 am everyday. I was ok during first 1~2 weeks, but after several weeks, I tried to escape from alarm clock to get comfortable. Now, I can only say that Closk is worst enemy during this semester for me….

I took  a photo of alarm clock from googl picture. And I attached the photo to this post. Before I brought it, I have already made the haiku.

I’m not sure the works  I did is on right track, but this assignment was really intrested for me because I have never written hainku in English. First, I though it will be easier for me cause I have experience to create haiku in Japanese, so I assumed Haiku in English and Japanese are almost same. However, I took around 30 minutes to create it. I realized Hainku in English and Japanese were totally different. Even though it was a little difficult for me, I could experience some thing new for me, so the  assignment is good for me. I recommend to do this assignment for every one!

  1. Hemingway would be proud of this one.
You should post a Haiku you’ve done in Japanese sometime!

  2. This was a pretty good haiku! I know what you mean when you say Japanese Haiku and English Haiku are different. I used to have to write them in high school a lot during Literature class. It was sometimes difficult to choose the perfect words.

  3. I agree with Stephanie about the Hemingway reference in your final line. This is a nice haiku. I can certainly relate to the feeling you express.
